Bekah Bossard – American Dream

Indie-rock songstress Bekah Bossard (she/they) returns with ‘American Dream’ via APOLLO Distribution, a track that blends poetic musings, gritty undercurrents, and a tongue-in-cheek sense of self-awareness. Anchored by raspy vocals, rocky drums, and bold guitar lines, the single finds Bekah leaning into their kinetic, grungy side while weaving in moments of softness and restraint.
At its core, ‘American Dream’ is about looking back with gratitude, even on the heartbreaks that once stung. It’s a song of acceptance and growth, of realising that not getting what you once wanted can be its own kind of freedom.
“I wrote this song about watching your exes fall in love with other people”, Bekah shares. “It’s about growing up and changing, and in all of that, finding peace with knowing that whatever their dream life became isn’t actually mine and their dream person was never meant to be me! And being grateful for the love we found and the time we had, and all of those things sort of coexisting. I wanted to play on the phrase American dream, as the idea of that is something I’ll never aspire for and never want to end up in, so it’s all very tongue in cheek. But I guess I wanted to say ok I didn’t get what I once wanted but I’m not sad about it anymore, we all sort of got what we wanted.”
With ‘American Dream’, Bekah continues to build on the reflective, emotionally rich storytelling that defines their artistry. Each release feels planted in lived experience – exploring love, loss, and the quiet beauty in moving on. It’s this honesty that positions them as one of the most compelling emerging voices in the UK’s indie landscape.
The single follows recent releases ‘More’ and ‘In Your Head’, which together signal a new creative chapter for Bekah. ‘
