Madeline The Person – Man On The Moon

Today, Emerging producer, guitarist, and singer-songwriter Madeline The Person returns with her deeply moving new single, ‘Man On The Moon’ via APOLLO Distribution – a tender and poetic tribute to her late father.
Emotionally raw yet quietly powerful, the track captures the intensity of grief through beautifully layered metaphors and atmospheric production. What begins as a stripped-back acoustic guitar ballad gradually swells into a cinematic sound, with stirring strings and delicate textures that elevate the song’s emotional weight.
“Man On The Moon’ is a letter to my dad who passed when I was 15. In my other songs about grief, like As A Child and Just For The Day, I try to write about all of the heavy, yet intricately tangled feelings that come with losing someone so close to you. Man On The Moon feels different because it’s about acceptance. It’s been 8 years and I’m still grieving. I miss him every day. But I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that his life cycle was as full and lovely as it could be. I’m working on coming to terms with the fact that he got his 1 year sobriety chip and turned 60 just the week before he died. We celebrated him well before he left. It’s all so bittersweet. I’m so proud of him, and I can feel his pride in me.” – Madeline The Person
Known for crafting songs that feel like pages torn from her journal, Madeline explores the complexities of identity, relationships, mental health, and family through a deeply personal lens. Whether she’s singing about queer love or the nuances of selfhood, her music resonates with authenticity and warmth.
This release follows the success of her recent single ‘Closest Thing’ – an homage to queer love and connection – which was embraced across Spotify playlists and spoke strongly with her growing fanbase.
With ‘Man On The Moon’, Madeline The Person once again proves her ability to transform personal experience into storytelling, making listeners feel understood, and less alone.
