Whitney Whitney – Isabelle

Cinematic pop songstress Whitney Whitney returns with today’s premiere of her new single, “Isabelle,” available now via Atlantic Records.
Produced by RISC (Pink Pantheress, KATSEYE, Mimi Webb) and co-written with RISC, Cloe Tighe (Kehlani, Rosé, Charli XCX), and Max Wolfgang (Olivia Dean, Blackpink, Ashnikko), the song is a relatable pop ode about hating your friend’s girlfriend.
“‘Isabelle’ is about one of my friend’s girlfriends,” says Whitney Whitney. “She’s rude to him, doesn’t let him go out with his friends, and, not to mention, cheated on him. I love taking drama like this to a song. I came in with the line ‘Isabelle you’re ruining his life and don’t you know it.’ I really wanted to use her real name, but my friend said no, so I created Isabelle. I’d describe it sonically as if pop, musical theater, and an orchestra had a baby in Nashville. (They are still together, by the way, so please listen and feel the pain with me).”
The Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter unveiled her inventive and inimitable approach to pop earlier this year with her acclaimed debut EP, 1.1.
