Asha Ryder West – Too Much

Asha Ryder West

Melbourne artist ASHA RYDER WEST has had a musical journey which, to date, has let her explore some beautiful and atmospheric blends of pop, electronic and experimental influences. All of these have produced music that has excited, intrigued and offered up an unique set of perspectives from the songwriter about navigating young adulthood.

This year, she returns with brand new music – the first since her 2023 debut album Ethereality – in the stirring single, ‘Too Much’. The song is a reaffirming piece of music from West, who looks ahead to a bright new chapter with emotional maturity and optimism as to where her music will take her.

For ‘Too Much’, production of the song began in West’s home studio, with the talented artist starting the process in a very solo, intimate way. It then found its way into the hands of West’s dad, producer Dorian West, who brought “a really cool, live energy that gave the song a whole new dimension.”

‘Too Much’ is the first song West wrote since completing her debut album and as such, it lands with impact. This is a song that marks a new stride forward for West, and will provide long time and new fans alike with a pointer towards what is coming next.

“‘Too Much’ is about both hope and fear that you experience in the early stages of love. You feel wonder, desire and possibility, but alongside that, lies uncertainty, the fear that nothing is promised. The production of the song mirrors this emotional duality, opening in a dreamlike soundscape and then moving into a haunting and dark ending.” ASHA RYDER WEST
