Tiger La Flor – Lucky Strike

Tiger La Flor by Raea Palmiere

Rising indie-pop romantic Tiger La Flor releases her latest flirty single “Lucky Strike” out now via Arista Records.

“Lucky Strike” continues Tiger La Flor’s lovestruck string of 70s “Laurel Canyon Country” infused singles. A unique blend of modern country-pop and 70’s disco, the flirtatious track soundtracks La Flor’s pursuit to gain the attention of a new prospect in her small-town bowling alley. Picture a prom scene from Napoleon Dynamite — a little awkward, a little sweet, and full of charm, that is “Lucky Strike.” Tiger La Flor’s cinematic, witty songwriting and ability to blend an array of influences continues the throughline that’s earned her recognition as an artist.

Explaining the song further Tiger La Flor shares, “This may be the only song I’ve come across that’s about seducing someone in a bowling alley. I always liked the cheeky retro branding of Lucky Strike cigarettes, but since there were already so many songs about the cigarettes, I decided to flip the concept and make it about the Lucky Strike bowling alley chain instead. The result is playful and flirty with a nostalgic twist. Sonically, it draws from Spandau Ballet’s ‘True’and the Eagles’ ‘One of These Nights,’ mixed with a modern influence like Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Please Please Please.’”

“Lucky Strike” is the third single in a body of work that also includes “Motel 6” and “No Vacancy.” All three tracks are connected by a sonic and visual thread rooted in the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest where Tiger La Flor was raised alongside the Americana and Country-tinged 70s records she listened to growing up. Recently, “No Vacancy” earned the spotlight of the week from Holler Country, as they highlighted the “brilliant new single from Japanese-Korean-American country-pop singer Tiger La For.” The previous single “Motel 6” sparked eye-opening interviews with The Luna Collective and Celeb Secrets, not to mention praise from indie-pop blog EARMILK, who wrote, “The track turns pain into musical gold [and] dreamy nostalgia.”

Emerging from Seattle’s grunge scene, Tiger La Flor ventured south to Los Angeles and forged a unique sound by blending easygoing country and retro synth-pop with indie grit.
