MARINA – Princess of Power
Ahead of her highly anticipated performance at the Coachella Mainstage tonight at 5:40pm, internationally acclaimed, award-winning artist and author MARINA is back with “CUNTISSIMO,” alongside exciting news of her forthcoming sixth studio album, PRINCESS OF POWER to be released on June 6 (Queenie Records/BMG).
“CUNTISSIMO” comes with an equally iconic music video directed by Olivia de Camps.
Power, sexuality and desirability are reoccurring themes that charge through this new era. “CUNTISSIMO,” a love song to independence, pays tribute to the women who unapologetically own all of the above (“Salma Hayek in the sun/Louise and Thelma on the run”). “So often, women don’t think they’re allowed to feel their sexuality in a way that doesn’t involve how it looks for men,”says MARINA. “They feel that it’s been co-opted – I would love to be able to free younger women of that, the feeling that our bodies don’t quite belong to us.”
