Emily James – Blueprint

Last Friday, New York-based singer-songwriter Emily James shared “Blueprint,” the final single from her forthcoming coming-of-age concept EP, Summer Nostalgia.

“Blueprint” takes a journey down memory lane, revisiting old haunts and the inescapable trace that remains of a first love (“I can’t erase it, got me in ruins, you’re the foundation, you built the blueprint”).

In her own words, Emily explains, “‘Blueprint’ is a song directed towards that first love; the person who, for better or worse, laid the groundwork for how you approach relationships, and the combination of sentimentality and frustration that comes with that. It’s about growing up a little bit and allowing time to let us see the relationship through a new lens, all while knowing those feelings may never dissipate.”

“Blueprint” follows recent releases “Underdog,” “Under the Influence,” and “Suburbia,” which set the scene for her new EP, telling a story of adolescence and young love. It’s a story about the formative years that sometimes seem trivial, but in reality, they leave a lasting impression on the rest of our lives.

After supporting Donovan Woods on his West Coast run, Emily is thrilled to announce fall tour dates supporting Amistat and Joshua Radin across the U.S. and Canada, making stops in Toronto, Montreal, Brooklyn, Chicago, Austin, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, Bend, and Portland.
