Eden Rain – It’s Always Been Like This

London-based artist on the rise, Eden Rain, shares her latest single “It’s Always Been Like This”, fresh off the road as the special guest on SOFY’s UK tour.
Offering a grungier, moodier sound to what we have heard from Eden’s previous work, the track is driven by gritty guitar riffs, punchy drums and her unmistakable vocals, which perfectly mirror the unpredictable emotions she grapples with, as narrated on the song. It’s Always Been Like This is a personal cut, drawn from her own experiences with mental health and being on medication, or lack thereof. It speaks to anyone who has experienced the feeling of losing control, offering a raw and relatable reflection on the cycles that can be hard to escape.
“I wrote this with Iain Berryman – nicest man, legend + total prod wizard. It’s about coming off my meds and swinging between being a total anxious people pleaser and then also a bit of a twat, and trapping myself in the same cycle over and over. It’s maddening watching the same patterns play out, but there’s something almost empowering about leaning into that darkness. I love a good cry and shame spiral, so this song makes me wanna thrash around or take up jogging or howl at the moon or something when I hear it.” – Eden Rain
One thing you can always count on with Eden Rain’s writing is her ability to tell a story that gives listeners a deeper glimpse into the person behind the music. With her poetic lyrics and a natural talent for storytelling, Eden once again crafts a narrative that draws from her own life, making her artistry a true reflection of herself. With every release, she opens up a little more, sharing a new piece of herself through her music.
