Issa Odyssea – The End (of The World)

Today London-based Swedish rising star ISSA ODYSSEA returns with her powerful new single “the end (of the world)” via APOLLO Distribution.
Dark, moody, and atmospheric, the track brings together experimental production with a sharp political and social message, delivered in a bold, almost apocalyptic tone that underscores the urgency of the subject. Punchy and thought-provoking, it’s a timely narrative that takes strongly to today’s climate.
‘the end (of the world)’ is the fourth and final single in the lead up to ISSA ODYSSEA’s upcoming EP release; serving as a big, bold, cinematic finale. The track reflects on the repercussions of capitalism and fascist politics. “I actually started writing this song after seeing World War III trending when I was scrolling on social media. There’s a certain amount of desensition taking place when we read about warfare, and barely feel a thing.”
ISSA intentionally samples audio from her home video tapes – using the voices of herself and her siblings as children – to evoke unease at the juxtaposition; highlighting the horror of how children are too often victims of violence and the consequential actions of adults. The cover art follows ensuite, depicting the dehumanisation some carry towards those they view as “strangers,” or rather, don’t view as human beings at all. Sadly, it seems the timely relevance of this song is rarely lost.
