Silya – It’s Summer (& I Hate You)

Rising indie-pop singer-songwriter and bedroom producer Silya shares her emotive yet glistening new single “it’s summer (& I hate you)” from APOLLO Distribution.

Bringing back her signature sugar-sweet vocal delivery à la Billie Eilish and PinkPantheress, and shimmery nostalgia, Silyla has brought her own take on the perfect summer song. Meant for blasting out your car windows in an ode to letting go and finding yourself again.

With a habit of keeping the OG demo vocals in her songs, Silyla wrote summer like a freestyle vocal. Produced by her partner Rndmbeats, they made this song quickly for fun. Silyla says, “the songs I make with Rndm are never made necessarily with the intention to release, they are more made as an outcome of one of our favourite ways of spending time with each other. Sometimes I write songs for others, sometimes I write for myself, I just see what falls out. It’s fun, it’s for passion. Whatever we naturally fall into that day, we follow and do. We’re always down to experiment, because it’s casual, no pressure, just having a good time.”

“This song was written when I was having a great songwriting week, we were writing bangers left right and centre. This one really hit us though and I knew straight away it was a contender for others to hear one day. I had recently written my last release ‘What Was It All For?’, which I think is why these songs feel like they live in similar worlds.” – Silya
