Joanna Borne – Wolves

Joanna Borne by Teigan Uhlik

Nashville-based alt pop artist Joanna Borne delivers her most cinematic moment yet with ‘Wolves’, a dark and atmospheric single inspired by her rare upbringing alongside wolves and wolf dogs. The track channels the wild tension of instinct and empathy, exploring how beauty and danger often exist together.

Raised in rural Saskatchewan, Joanna’s connection with wolves shaped her understanding of loyalty, caution, and intuition, traits that mirror the unpredictability of human nature. Working with producers David Lehr and Jesse Brock, plus mix and master engineers Sean Moffitt (Tommee Profitt, Keith Urban, Josh Groban) and John Greenham (Billie Eilish, FINNEAS), she built an immersive soundscape of growling bass, textured guitars, haunting synths, and affected wolf howls woven throughout.

“The wolves taught me discernment, how something can be loving and unpredictable at once,” Joanna says. “It’s the same lesson I apply to people.”

‘Wolves’ also reflects the duality of Joanna’s upbringing in a small, divided city where connection and conflict often overlapped. The song captures that push and pull between community and isolation, echoing the fractures found in today’s world. For the visuals, Joanna joined photographer Teigan Uhlik and longtime friend Sky Phoenix at A Wolf Adventure Outreach in Saskatchewan, capturing powerful imagery that blurs the line between human and wild while grounding the song in real experience. #joannabornemusic
