Flames Of Durga – Spirit Guide

Los Angeles-born, Joshua Tree-based powerhouse Flames Of Durga are excited to release the video for their new single, “Spirit Guide.”
The track is a moving ode to the band’s late father, who passed away during the making of their upcoming album. The track, produced by Alex Newport (At The Drive-In, Bloc Party, Death Cab for Cutie), is available now on all streaming platforms for any playlist shares.
“‘Spirit Guide’ was written when my sister and I were going through a very challenging time,” says guitarist and vocalist Béah Romero. “Its lyrics call out to a higher power in a humble, prayerful way—centered on surrendering to divine timing. Little did we know our most difficult year yet was ahead, with the passing of our father, Michael White Feather Romero, in November 2024. He loved the song when we first played it for him, and now he truly is one of our spirit guides. This song is dedicated to him.”
“What I love most about ‘Spirit Guide’ are the powerful lyrics and dynamic harmonies,” adds bassist and vocalist Cecilia Romero. “It starts with restraint before diving into full-on rock ’n’ roll revelry. Recording with Alex was pure magic—from writing new lyrics in the studio to capturing the final vocal in a single take. It’s a song about moving through darkness and calling on something greater to guide you through. I also had a blast creating the single art and animation visuals in collaboration with our friend Michael Wielock.”
Flames Of Durga is a rock power trio based in the California high desert, fronted by twin sisters Béah and Cecilia Romero. Known for their thunderous sound and electrifying performances, the band blends heavy riffs, emotional intensity, and empowering lyricism. The sisters began writing songs together as kids in Los Angeles, later forming the band after surviving a near-fatal car crash that sparked their drive to live with purpose. Joined by drummer Nate Million, they deliver raw, passionate rock inspired by artists like The Kills, Black Sabbath, Nirvana, and L7.
Their debut album, recorded at Rancho de la Luna with Dave Catching (Queens of the Stone Age, Mojave Lords), is out now with a new album in the works.
