Catie Turner – Shrinking Violet

Catie Turner by Helen Showalter

Singer-songwriter Catie Turner returns today with her new single “Shrinking Violet,” a vulnerable yet empowering track that showcases her sharp lyricism and emotional clarity.

The song arrives alongside the release of her recent performance at Z100 and iHeartRadio’s NYX Sound Studio.

“Shrinking Violet” explores the complexities of friendship and the quiet ache of feeling overlooked. With haunting, intimate verses that bloom into a bold, soaring chorus, the track captures Turner stepping into an even more grounded and self-assured chapter.

“‘Shrinking Violet’ is about getting older but still feeling like the kid who could never fit in. The adult you promised yourself you’d become, the one that outgrew all of your perceived shortcomings, never came and now you’re just the same kid who’s playing twenty-something dress up,” Turner says. “This is for the victims of a middle-school girl trio and the wall flowers who were only ever described as ‘nice’.”

The single marks the culmination of a transformative year for Turner, defined by creative evolution, renewed confidence, and a deepening connection with her audience. Fans can expect continued releases in 2026, with Turner building on the honesty and emotional resonance of this latest chapter.

“Shrinking Violet” follows her two most recent releases, “Grow Out of You” and “Tourist Attraction.”
